Thanks. This is the second one. The 1st one had flat plywood fins attached to the sides. The nosecone is scrap maple cutting board laminated together. It's heavy! Sometimes I have to explain the font. 2 1/2" downspout.

I don't remember the weight, I'll have to get it out. I've flown it on G's dozens of times.

Not really a problem. The momentary 10 - 15 PSI of an ejection charge is nowhere near the 80 - 100 PSI of an air compressor setup.

It weighs 2# 7oz. without a motor. It can fly as class one.

FYI it is EX motor casings you don't use PVC tubing for because of 'shards' that can't be seen on Xrays. Seems early Sugar folks were using that.

Not all plastics are as brittle as PVC pipe.

Safety First. It's ok to admit you weren't aware of a materials issue. Now that you have been made aware of the fact, react accordingly.​

Many folks haver flown PVC. Just fly it from mid power and pieces will not reach you.

My comprehension is fine. I'm aware of compressor piping exploding. And since it's a mid power rocket, safe distance practices are used. It flys great, and will again.

I think that square downspout would make a fine mold to make a square paper and glue body tube on. Or a fiberglass one. Or even thin, steamed balsa.

Way back when I built my big square SquareOne, I used 3 and 1/8” square PVC tube from McMaster- Carr. Which is now a crazy $73.70 for a 5 foot piece. I too had heard of the dangers of using PVC so, I built a round cardboard tube rocket inside the square to protect the outer square tube. Probably only somewhat safer.

Technically quantum tubing is PVC as well and I love it lol
