The Southern Thunder weekend is scheduled to begin with a Tripoli EX launch on June 18th, followed by the regular Southern Thunder launch days on June 19th & 20th. Vendors who plan to attend Southern Thunder this year can send an email to [email protected] and they will be added to the Vendor List. Please include a link to your website and the link will also be on our vendor list page.

General information:
It is our intent that all motor types be permitted to fly at Southern Thunder events however, since we are flying on top of someone else's saleable product (sod), weather and field conditions my force us to not allow skidmark motors to fly. If you plan to pre-load a large motor before traveling to this event, we recommend that you select something other than a skidmark. The determination about whether or not skidmarks will be flown will be made on the day of the event based upon the immediate conditions.

I WILL be at this event. I hated missing the last 2 so I plan to be there for all 3 days. Specially looking forward to the EX launch. Anyone know for sure if Kno3 motors will be allowed? I'd love to bring a J

Nothing is coming through, and the spam blocker isn't stopping it either. Others are successfully sending emails to me using the email address listed at the start of this thread. The only thing I can suggest is to check that the email address you're sending your request to is entered correctly.

Still haven't received any communication from you. I'm not having a problem getting responses from anyone else (to my knowledge) so, I'm assuming the issue is on your end. You may want to find out why.

We have updated information about our flight waiver for Southern Thunder.

FAA Waiver Information: Standing 14,000 ft (AGL) waiver is in effect from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm for every launch. Standing 10,000 ft (AGL) waiver is in effect from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm for every launch.

The TRA Research launch we had planned to hold on June 18th is canceled due to problems getting an appropriate waiver approved by the FAA.

Just so there's no confusion, the NAR Southern Thunder event is NOT effected by the cancellation of the TRA Research launch, and will be held as planned.
