A few years ago when my daughter got me hooked on rockets again, I built an Estes Big Daddy to fly with her at the park.
It only lasted two flights before the nose cone failed to separate and it died.
Not to take defeat lightly, I repurposed the nosecone and some of the body tube to make my first “scratch build”
After quite a few flights, including a couple on H motors, this too died a horrible death due to a failed O-ring which blew out the fin can.
But miraculously, the nose cone survived.
Somewhere along the line I picked up another Big Daddy, but just didn’t have the heart to build it.
So I started cutting...
The original nose got a couple ounces of weight and the new nose got turned into a tail cone. The motor mount and fins went into the parts bin and the result is what you see here.
My “Slightly Modified Big Daddy”
It’ll fly this weekend on an F23FJ-7. OR predicts and altitude of 1300’
Should be fun!
