Hey everyone - First off I like the new design of the website. I'm using IE and here are a few things that happen. Lets say I want to view the "New Posts" when I click on the link it just takes me back to the main page where I started, which is the page that has a list of the forum topics. Next if I click on the link "Watering Hole" to post a thread I end up on a just a blank white screen. It's as though the link itself doesn't work. A lot of times I have to click 3 - 4x just to get into my inbox. Just to navigate it seems really slow to get to where you want to get. If any of you have these issues how do you get around them. Could it be the browser I'm using and if so which one will be more stable and work? Or is it my account?
Don't think it is your account. And don't think it's IE. Hopefully Angie will chime in as she may be more familiar with what you're asking.
I just tried the site with Explorer on Windows 10 and it ran fine. What OS version are you running? My guess is you are running an older OS with a version of Explorer that does not play nice with the site. But that's just a guess. Tony
I'm running Windows 10 newer build 1803 with the latest and greatest of IE. Its a minor annoyance just takes longer to get where you want to go. Thanks guys
Okay so when I click on "New Posts" I'm taken to the "Forums" and when I click on "Forums" I'm taken to "New Posts" it's really kind of weird LOL. Anyway I was wondering if I created a new account if these problems will go away? I like the site, but I can't navigate it properly?
Try Chrome or Firefox. IE and Edge do not play well with all forum formats. I'll change over to IE or Edge and try it out.
I'm now on Win10/Edge. Edge replaces IE. I don't have an IE set up. " Has Internet Explorer been discontinued? The browser is discontinued, but still maintained. ... On March 17, 2015, Microsoft announced that Microsoft Edge would replace Internet Explorer as the default browser on its Windows 10 devices." That could be part of the problem. And forum software such as XF is kept to work well with current browsers than older ones. I'm not having any issues using Edge with Win10. I'd say, go with Edge, Chrome or Firefox.
I tried opening the site with ie(v11.253.17763.0) and everything seemed to work as normal (for me) as with edge. I did have to put up with some ads and what not, but those were not generated by the site(Norton av and ms ie) since I hadn't been running ie for a couple of updates. Rex
@AfterBurners have you cleared cookies and temp files and history? And have you shut down your computer for a hard reboot in the last little bit? And has this been doing like that since we changed to XenForo or is it fairly recent that it started doing that switch on the New Posts and Forums ?
Hi Angie - I went ahead deleted my cookies and temp files and history....etc. I also did a cold reboot and it seems to be working fine now. I'm signed in on IE I haven't try other browsers like Chrome or Firefox, but I will just to see if there's a difference? How often do I need to clear my cookies, temp and history? If that's all it takes then I'm cool with it. Now I can browse and navigate the site a lot easier. Thanks for your assistance. It's greatly appreciated!
That is TERRIFIC! I'm glad you can use your IE that you are use to and the forum works fine. As to how often to do the clearing. When you see a glitch, or maybe once a month wouldn't hurt. Depends on how much you are online with it.
it's IE which was never great, and Microsoft even abandoned it for edge.... might want to try a real browser...... (sent from firefox)
Angie - Now I'm on EDGE, which you are right. It's more stable and the response times are better. I want to thank you for your help. I really appreciate it! You're the bomb! And to show my appreciation I am going to sign up for a yearly membership to support the site and also to get rid of these ads I see all over. Does that mean I'll get more space on my screen? lol
okay so how do I clear these ads on my page now that I'm a paying member? YAY!! Just like the good ole days!
