The ShadowAero Shock HPR kit was produced during the first decade of 2000. It was never an off the shelf item, but only produced in limited numbers when sufficient demands were related to Dave Triano of ShadowAero. The production run of each lot of kits was commenced once a minimum number of deposits were paid in advance to ShadowAero.
The minimum diameter Shock 54mm is probably the highest performing and highest quality HPR rocket kit produced to date. The deliverable form of the kit evolved and improved a bit with each production run. This is evidenced by the ShadowAero descriptions, and photos showing two of the delivered kits from separate production runs in the circa 2004 and 2008/2009 lots. In some ad copy graphics the rocket shown was titled the Shock Value.

THE 'SHOCK' - 54mm Minimum Diameter Extreme Altitude Kit
The Shock is our 54mm. minimum diameter kit offering, the ONLY all carbon fiber 54mm. kit on the planet. The Shock is the winner of the Discovery Channel's Sonic Challenge and XPRS Fastest Flight contests with mach 2+ flights. This rocket has been extensively tested and flown, and is simply the most awesome 54mm. rocket on the market, able to accept any 54mm motor with ease. The Shock specs are:
- 69.5" Overall length
- 54mm. I.D. Filament wound Carbon/Epoxy airframe using a toughened resin system for extreme heat resistance, with Filament wound Carbon/Epoxy coupler units
- The Shock is available in Dual Deployment form ONLY, suitable for any capable altimeter or timer package.
- All Carbon Fiber Pre-cut fins (3)
- Weight 2-3lbs, depending on ballast used for your specific motor
- All passivated Stainless Steel U-bolt recovery system hardware with pre-drilled carbon fiber bulkheads.
- Rocketman Super Streamer and R3C main chute
- Pratt Hobbies Tubular Kevlar 1/2" recovery cord (12') and nomex Heat Shields (2)
- Exclusive Shadow Composites hollow cast high impact strength Conical nosecone

The Shock was designed around long burn motors such as the Aerotech K250 and J125, and has flown many times to over 24,000' on the K250. The Shock with a K1050 has reached over mach 2.3. The Shock is simply the ultimate in speed and altitude performance. Our two stage Shock X2 has flown beyond mach 3.5, to 50,000'+. Two Shock owners are using their rockets as second stage sustainers for flights over 75,000'.
The Shock is priced at 450.00. The extended Shock L3000 capable of flying on the mighty Kosdon L3000 is 550.00. The next run of Shocks will occur when we have enough interested parties willing to place a 300.00 deposit. Hello to our loyal customers, and happy holidays!
ShadowAero and Kosdon TRM are pleased to announce the long awaited return of the SHOCK 54mm. minimum diameter carbon rocket. The original SHOCK production run in 2001 resulted in the lightest, most structurally advanced high power rocket ever made, setting speed and altitude benchmarks whenever it was launched.
The 61.5", 34 oz. SHOCK will handle any 54mm. motor available, and offers outstanding performance with hybrid motor power.
The SHOCK is offered only in the exclusive ShadowAero 'ARF' form, with autoclave cured carbon fins, couplers, and bulkheads pre-installed with our proprietary High Temperature Epoxy and acrylic adhesive techniques. The most amazing part of the SHOCK is our own high modulus carbon airframe, extraordinarily light, filament wound in a high temperature epoxy matrix, autoclave cured, and engineered for the most demanding motor applications. The recovery system is composed of the extra-tough Rocketman R3C Pro-XP chute and exclusive TopFlight metallic streamer, with nomex blast shields and 1/4" kevlar recovery harness. The classic ShadowAero hollow-cast urethane 5/1 conical 'shouldered' nose cone, a full set of 'Silver Carbon' self adhesive graphics, ACME Rail Guides (for those without a tower), and a Flight Prep for Maximum Performance Guide are also included.
The SHOCK is also available exclusively in a number of packages bundled with the REAL DEAL: gold anodized motors by Kosdon TRM, with Kosdon 'Kryponite' graphics. The 'slightly deviant' L850/L1860 motor version, the 'insane' extended version that comes packaged with the mighty Kosdon L3000 motor hardware, or as a -'beyond help' - two-stage L3000 to L3000 variant (yes, we have flown it in this configuration).
The standard SHOCK is offered at 629.00, with other package configurations priced as equipped.
