As I was re-entering rocketry, I ordered lots of neat stuff over the internet. I found Semroc for the first time in my life and placed a BIG order. At that time, I got a freebie for the size of the order. That freebie was the Squire.

When my order came in, I was thankfully smart enough to realize that I could not do justice to a Mars Lander, Hydra, Saturn 1B etc. and built the Squire. It was by no means perfect but was much better than I usually did as a kid.

It has since become my favorite rocket and logged its 39th flight today. Its a little worn and I should replace the streamer. I would be much more heartsick to lose this one than one of the fancier ones.

you always remember your first ;)- even if its second time around.

Tradition and propriety dictate that Old Faithul be given an outing today. I loaded her up with an A8-5. I should have known better having learned this lesson before. 5 seconds is to long for an A motor in this rocket. The streamer deployed just before hitting the ground. Even so, Old Faithful will fly again.

I did something today I almost never do. I flew my squire on a C. This is not because the rocket does not perform well; its because I don't like taking a chance on losing it. Today, there was a C6-7 sitting in my box and I figured at the time that the Squire was the only one that could handle that motor. It did handle it but I got a fright when I lost sight of it and thought I had lost my favorite rocket for good. Luckily, Tim Reidy saw it come down and point me in the right direction. I guess I'm going to have to replace the streamer in this one.
