Back in the day (early early 80's) one of (if not) my first model rocket was a Centuri Screaming Eagle. A bad pic of which can be seen here-

After a couple of hard flights, one encounter with a tree, and 20 some years on a shelf, it had deteriorated to this-

I do still have the original parachute, but it is in BAD shape so will not be used.

Today, the mailwoman, I'll call her Santa, delivered a box from SemRoc with some parts enclosed-

Just quick stuck the body tube on the fin can and the nose cone in the other end and was treated to this-

Correct length body tube and all :D
I'll need to come up with some decals somehow.
Also some thin kevlar for a shock cord/parachute mount.
Oh yeah, and a launch lug, forgot that.
Not sure if I'm going to paint it or not; the original was not painted, but maybe this one will be. I don't know.

My question-
The motor mount from SemRoc does not quite fit inside the fincan tightly. I could probably wrap three or four layers of masking tape around it and glue it in, but also had the idea of using a bit of Gorilla Glue to mount it firmly. Think that if I slather a bit of the glue on the motor mount and spritz a bit of water in the fin can that it would expand and fit nicely. Figuring on putting a spent motor in the mount to keep it from collapsing. Any thoughts?

I am kind of excited to get to fly this rocket again.
Already have ideas about building a 2.5x upscale with a 38mm mount.

Maybe get some paper centering rings a little too big and peel off layers until the fit correctly. I've done that before. You can peel estes rings like that (on the inside too).

I'll bet Jim Z has scans of the decals or knows who does.

I have downloaded all the info from Jim's site that I can find, including scans of the decals. Just have to get someone to do a one off.
I think I got the rest figured out. The engine mount just goes up inside the fincan and is glued in using good ole Elmer's. Then I'm going to have to drill out the guts from an expended C engine and use a chunk of it about 1-1/2 inches long along with a stripped off D engine adapter from an E engine bird as a coupler.
That made sence to me if it didn't to you. :D
Anyway, thanks again, hope you had a good weekend,

Greg
