Cool Stuff!!! You probably know this already but, I'll mention it anyway for those who may not know and can benefit from my mishap.

With clear payload tubing coupled onto a balsa or other wood plug-coupler, if you decide at some point to fill the balsa with CA, either do so prior to gluing the balsa-plug and clear tubing together, or if CA is applied to the "inside" side of the balsa coupler after the balsa-plug and clear tubing are glued together, definitely mask the Inside of the tubing with paper rolled up and let it unroll itself to the inner wall of the tubing.

What happens is the CA fumes out soooo much, it will attach it's "fog" to the inside of what "was" a nice clear payload section. I know this from making that mistake for a payload section made for one of my night launchers (using clear payload sections and balsa plug couplers with LED's inside). From a night-launching perspective, enough light still shines through just fine, it's just aesthetically annoying.

Cool Rocket you have going!

Thanks for sharing this tip! CA is normally your friend, but in cases like you describe be it can be your worst enemy. I use epoxy for attaching the clear tube to my payload bay coupler which I’ll actually be doing in a couple of days. 🥰🚀🚀🚀

My “Scooby on an OOBY DOOBY” rocket build log: today, the Estes motor retainer was painted with RustOleum Metallic Nickel and set aside to dry. The payload bay ceiling and cap were painted with RustOleum Stops Rust Gloss White and set aside to dry. 🥰🚀🚀🚀 UPDATE: My Bride Lorrena working on producing the vinyl decals! 🥰🚀🚀🚀

With all due respect @JoeFilgas could you start resizing your photos? 1024 x 760 is more than adequate....

As an example... 123 KB file... versus your original 1.4 MB file.

Questions: 1. are you an Admin and b. Why? (There’s a Christmas movie joke right there for anyone reading this.) Frankly if I was required to do this going forward I would no longer be a supporting member of this site nor would I be posting any more build logs. I spend a considerable amount of time already sharing my builds and techniques as it is, which I receive a lot of positive feedback for. Do you have an old computer or phone that can’t download quickly from?

Nah, just a guy on the site. Seems silly to be uploading hundreds of photos that are over a megabyte in size when they can be easily downsized.
Brand new laptop.
No worries, just thought I'd ask. I always take the time to resize the photos in my build threads.

My “SCOOBY ON AN OOBY DOOBY” rocket biluild log: today I painted the dowel protruding on the bottom off the van (not the glue portion) white with Testor’s model paint. Then the Scooby Doo assembly was glued into the base of the payload bay section with BSI 5 minute epoxy. Next I roughed up the bottom inside portion of the clear tubing so the epoxy would have something to grab onto when mounted. The tube was washed with dish soap and warm water then dried with a microfiber cloth. I mixed up some BSI 30 minute epoxy and brushed that onto the glue surface of the payload bay coupler then carefully installed the clear tube over the Scooby Dooby assembly while rotating the tube and pushing it into its final position. There’s no extra room inside the tube and the rotation distorted Sooby a bit. Some further in place rotation and some long tweezers fixed that. I’m sure glad I noticed that when I did. Some epoxy oozed out the end of the clear tubing so that was removed and the area cleaned up with a paper towel and some alcohol. I went ahead and dry installed the nose cone to keep the inside from getting dust inside since I can no longer clean all of it anymore. 🥰🚀🚀🚀

My “SCOOBY ON AN OOBY DOOBY” rocket build log: tonight I applied all the decals (sorry you’ll have to wait for the unveiling to see them on the rocket although there’s an Easter Egg within) and the white vinyl strips to the clear tubing top and bottom. I have an idea for finishing off the nose cone, but we’ll have to see if this plan will work. It’s almost done! 🥰🚀🚀🚀

Welp thought I was going to have this build done today, but……..had an idea for a cool paint effect over the yellow nosecone and just as I was pulling into the hardware store this morning to buy a particular paint a little old Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake decided to strike just off our Coast! I sat in the car until the shaking stopped and then went inside. They were out of what I wanted so I got back in my car and I was heading south a few miles to the next town and hardware store I get a Tsunami Warning! Okay maybe today isn’t the best day for hobbying after all so I headed home up on the hill. Maybe tomorrow, but now we have crappy weather headed back in. I quit counting the number of aftershocks, but we’re probably over 50 by now. 😳

My “SCOOBY ON AN OOBY DOOBY” rocket build log: today I shot over the yellow with a Rustoleum Red glitter paint! These pictures really don’t do it justice! I was looking for a fiery effect and I think I have it! Should be able to do a full reveal tomorrow ZOINKS! 🥰🚀🚀🚀
