It was a gosh darned good rocket day! The weather was beautiful at Gibson Ranch Park for SARG's launch today. Lots of launches, several TARC teams, and even two Junior Level 1 Cert flights.

I ended up launching two today. First up was the maiden flight of my scratch built Bullpup XL, on a single use G75 Metalstorm. The up part was very good, and my friend Hanna got some great launch photos. The down part could have been better...

Somehow the 36" chute got tangled up inside the body tube, and only the 18" chute on the nose cone deployed. The bundled shock cord didn't even come loose. The good news is there was no damage, except to my pride. Oh, and it landed right next to my truck. As you can see, the ground was very soft thanks to the recent rains, which I'm sure helped quite a bit. The flight could have been better, but since there was no damage, I'll take it!

The second of mine was my scratch built Bloodsucker, on a D12-5. I haven't flown this one in several years. Perfect flight! The burn holes in the parachute are from a previous launch, when I didn't use enough dog barf. More great launch photos by Hanna!

I didn't know that was you down at the end of the row. I'm the one in the photo with the blue van and all the kids. :) We put up 9 rockets, all of which came back. My big one landed about 8 feet from the edge of the lake. Was a great day!

Fantastic my friend!!! Hanna did a great job behind the lens. Give her a high - five!!!
So great to see you out having some fun!!!

I was the one with the old blue Ford pickup. We'll have to meet at the next launch. Are you going to Snow Ranch?

It was a hoot! Very enjoyable launch. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed it!

I've got scout training to do this next weekend for most of the day, the burden of being a commissioner. :( Next month at SARG? :)
And videos from this weekend! I think I have someone's sparky launch in there, as well as a little plate/spool rocket.

You got some good videos! I still need to edit the videos I took of my launches. I was Cubmaster when my son was in Cub Scouts, and did several leader training sessions. I know how time consuming it can be, but it's very rewarding. Yes, I'll be at the next SARG launch, Lord willing. I should have a new scratcher or two done by then.
