Saab Viggen R/C Rocket glider

As I working on the challenge of the Draken, I started watching videos of the Viggen. I was never really interested in this airplane, but got more interested after watching the videos and looking at the performance, and the interesting shape in the air I decided to crank one out. It came together in one evening and looks pretty good, a few concessions to the shape given how I work, what I have to work with etc.

Got in a quick maiden to check CG, was spot on, even in 7-9mph gusts it just hovered there...fun! Click on the pic below to watch the video.

Nifty. The canards being in a different plane from the wings make it a really interesting looking model, looks great in the air. Look forward to seeing it fully decorated.

What mechanically moves the control surfaces? It's been years since I paid attention to RC at all... I don't see obvious wires going to the ailerons, etc.

Servos are on the bottom, the model is very light so not much stress on landing on the servos especially on grass, I used metal gear servos but that's becasue it was all my lhs had, it also looks much better than having them inset on the top of the wing.

I think the Draken flies better than the Viggen, but it could have been the "wind conditions", at play.

To my eyes, it appeared that the Viggen was "mushing", at times.

When I saw you build a Draken, I was actually disappointed it wasn't the Viggen (I always loved that jet growing up) and didn't want to mention it since I thought it'd be too derivative.

You never cease to amaze us Frank!

It was mostly the wind, I think I did take out a few clicks of up trim after this flight too.

From the first video, I think the relative ground speed at landing easy roughly.....0. Doesn’t get much more stress free than that!
