Chinas trip to the moon will be financed by american consumers, buying chinese made products to further fund their growing power
It was written in the 90’s that if American Business let China manufacture your products, they will bury you.

You folks are confusing Capitalism with Nationalism.
The interests of the two are, mostly, mutually exclusive.

One of the two is good for business, prosperity, and your 401k account.
The other is historically good for politics.

The Russians are blaming it on the project being too America-centric, but maybe the unspoken reality is that they want to get there first and don't want to keep waiting for SLS to be ready "someday" for a crap-ton of money and only two launches per year.

My dad took me to see it when I was 6 or 7.. didn't understand it (repertory theater in the early / mid 70's). But I do remember some: "oooohs" in the audience when when flew all lightspeed / plaid. I now know this was the LSD crowd really really enjoying it! :D
Ha, yes. I saw it when I was in middle school....I thought the acid trip ran a little too long :) I was more interested in the science/tech of the spaceships and living in space. I thought to myself, finally....a movie that shows flight in space without the Flash Gordon look...flame and bellowing smoke that rises....oh man...

Nationalism is basically Protectionism....

Not exactly.
Protectionism is about much more than mere nationalism, which is mostly a political concept.
Protectionism is about (failed) attempts to prop-up failing domestic industries by removing international competition from the marketplace. It's a form of economic national socialism.

Japan has been doing it for years and their economy has grown very well....China too....

Japan is one of the most open economies in the world, near or above the US (and that's even before our recent tail sliding):

China has opened it economy up exponentially since it joined the WTO in late 2001.

Any student of economics will tell you stories of protectionism leading to economic decay, stagnation, and competitive decline.
Protectionism is an all around failed economic strategy:
