Good things come for those that wait.....ROCKETS Magazine has the AIRFest-18 DVD completed and it is now available at Christmas discount pricing. This DVD is available in both standard and Blu-Ray formatting. The DVD set is three disks and two hours of video excitement, covering the entire event, with special focus on the largest gathering of monster scale rocket projects ever assembled at one launch. You'll see everything from low powered fun flights to clustered Q-Powered -Two-Stage attempts. There are also over 3,300 high quality photos included in the DVD set.

The AIRFest-18 DVD is a condensed version of our annual Cool and Really Cool DVD, all wrapped up at one launch. ROCKETS Magazine brings you the Good the Bad and the Ugly. You'll see Team Nebraska's P-Powered Mercury Redstone, Vern Hoag's 1:9 Scale Saturn 1B and Steve Eves 1:9 Scale Two Stage Saturn 1B. Also included is the Arizona Rocketry Team's Upscale Flis-Kits Drake and John Clifton's up-scale Corkscrew to name a few.

Excellent!

Another one I need in the collection!

I think we have almost 40 DVD's produced so far....one day I would love to offer the Earl Cagle Point 39 Production videos on DVD to cover the entire history of High Powered Rocketry. between Earl's and Bob's videos we would have most of the major rocketry events covered....

The last video Earl ever shot was the Liberty Project in 2004....he never produced it however.......

That would be very cool!

Woohoo! Got home from picking up my son, to discover a box in the mailbox -- Rocket Porn!

Or, as known by others, the AirFest 18 DVD. This time, I got the HD version, my first time for that. The HD video is just incredible -- I was watching it on a puny little 55" TV, so I didn't get much benefit from the extra detail. :p

The video opens with a killer sequence, too. Okay, so I might be biased that it contains a certain Redstone!

As usual, Neil and Bob have done a great job of capturing the event. In keeping with the theme of the event that the KLOUDBusters and Rockets Magazine put together, they did focus a bit on the big projects. However, that doesn't mean that the others aren't included -- plenty of action, from plenty of folks, including some names I don't recall having seen in their videos, in the past.

Bob was sure to grab interviews with multiple people on the various teams, which is awesome.

One thing I definitely like is the way Bob puts multiple camera angles up on the screen, at the same time, giving you multiple perspectives. After liftoff, it repeats in slow motion, allowing details that were otherwise missed to become easier to see. Being an HD video, even in slow motion, the quality is fantastic.

Another great job by the guys at Rockets -- even if you weren't there, you want this video!

Remember, unlike LDRS, this video is aimed squarely at us, and documents beautifully what we do, and who we are.

Oh, an addendum -- I realized I don't have the Blu-Ray version; just HD DVD. On a large TV, the video quality is great!

HD DVD meaning a DVD containing HD content, not the obsolete format HD-DVD?

Hey Neil,
Remind Bob to bring a Blu ray Saturday.

Thanks,
Tom

So, Bob sent me the Blu-Ray version, to try out. It arrived a few days ago, and I got the chance to stick it in the 'ol player today. :eyepop:

The quality on the DVD version is great. The quality on the Blu-Ray is just phenomenal! 55" inches of ultra-high quality rocketry goodness -- how can you go wrong?!

Go out, buy yourself a big TV and a Blu-Ray player, then start buying the videos from Rockets. You won't be disappointed!

I am somewhat amused when it comes time for the Discovery Channel LDRS show to air and the gripping about the hobby being portrayed in the proper context starts. You would think there is no alternative out there. Kevin hit the nail on the head. What you will find in each and every one of the ROCKETS Magazine DVD's is exactly what we do. Each DVD is singularly dedicated to the hobby and specifically the launch we are visiting. We focus on the people, the projects and the actual launch of the rockets. There is no script and no agenda, just hours of what ever happened at the launch in a quality format. The DVD's also contain the thousands of photos taken, which often tell a different story with a different perspective.

If you don't like the scripted rocket shows.....take a ROCKETS Magazine DVD for a test drive........

I hear it's a good DVD.

I also hear my new nickname is boom boom.

Everyone gets their turn in the barrel ;)

There are days it's great to be the motor guy, and there are days it's not so great...

Thing is, David, if you handed me a motor and said you thought it'd work, I'd fly it.

I tend to buy the Balls productions every year, makes for a great way to ignore work once in a while. These guys do an amazing job!
