I just had an accessory added to my fuel oil tank...

...a Rocket...

(see attached pix)

It's a fuel gauge. It's a sonar (i believe) device that attaches to the top of the tank, bounces a signal off of the surface of the oil, records the echo and calculates the amount of fuel. It then radio's the result to a very small plug in unit that you can have anywhere in your house (about the size of one of those air freshener plug-ins).

It's actually quite kewl and also a comfort as we've had our fuel tank run dry twice in the past year. Our tank isn't easily reached so this is great.

I was curious about other non-rocketry related products out there have the word/name "rocket" in their name. I gotta believe there are a bunch. Most anything that's supposed to be fast, powerful or "out there" could use an infusion of the imagery that "rocket" brings to mind :)

Any others out there?

If you have ever searched Ebay or Craigslist for "Rocket" thousands of non-rocketry things come up.
Rocket the Blue Jay beanie baby is one I see a lot.

There WAS a product called the Chicken Rocket (but sadly, their website appears to be gone :( ). It was a cast iron thingy into which you set an opened can of beer, then you put the open end of an uncooked (thawed, I assume) chicken over top, then you shoved the whole thing into the oven. The chicken would cook with the beer flavor infusing into the meat. Amazon.com does have a picture of it at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000DJZR7/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 .

While their website was up, you could click a link and hear their theme song too. (I'm not making this up.)

Oh, I also have on my desk at work an empty can of an energy drink named "Chinese Rocket Fuel". I'll try to snap and upload a picture when I get a chance.

Actually, the stuff wasn't half bad. ;)

There's a comedian/actor named Charles Rocket, who I believe is one of the few past cast members of Saturday Night Live to actually get FIRED from that show for something he said or did "live from New York".

They don't have "rocket" in the name but judging from the model number these truck bodies are high power.

Also, Stan Beaver had a hit record in 1963 with another "rocket" song.

Although the song's title was OK for the Billboard charts in 1963, I don't think that I can repeat it here on TRF in 2009. We live in too innocent of a time now ...

I heard that Trudy made Layne Pemberton some "rocket boxer shorts". Actually, Layne did post pictures once.

There was a group in the 90's called The Bottle Rockets. Their one chart hit was Radar Gun IIRC

Wow, that's a strange video.

I liked the song when it came out and I remember hearing it a lot, but I'm not sure I ever saw the video.

Old Navy sold Rocket Ship Underpants for a while many years ago, I'll have to pull out my Calvin and Hobbes Tomes and see if I can find a "Lucky Rocket Ship Underpants" reference.

What else can I remember that is in my apartment right now with rockets on it.
Rocket shaped soap dispenser and bath mat (from target about a year ago)
Rocket Twin bed sheets (Pottery Barn Kids maybe? 2003 time frame)
Rocket towels (Pottery Barn Kids maybe? 2003 time frame)
A lot of my 8 month old's clothes (lots of space themed baby boy clothes hae been out lately)
Huntsville Rock station (Rocket Radio) sticker on my range box
more than a few NASA T shirts
Rocket Martin Glass (my sister painted a set of 4 martini glasses for me on my 21st B-day, one each, rockets, aliens, wizard hats, and legos)
Lots of rocket books

Best part is my Wife likes it all too, Rockets go well with her Sun, Moon, Stars stuff, you know the art deco faces in the moon and sun stuff.
