Target and many department stores carry whats called a personal key chain alarm that when modified slightly work very well as locator beacons aka screamers. To modify simply add a loop to the back of the end opposite the keychain pin end by epoxying a piece of tubular nylon or kevlar to the back, then attach one end of the alarm to the chutes snap swivel and the other to the rockets shock cord just above the airframe some where that way when the chute deploys the pin is pulled. The type alarms pictured can be heard in the air from a couple of hundred yards and on the ground for about 75 to a hundred yards or more depending on wind direction and cover/structures.

I have also seen these window/door alarms used. It takes a little modification of the trigger mechanism to get it to work with rockets, but they are easy to dismantle and rework. Plus they're cheap and lightweight.

These are the only ones I have found to be loud enough to really provide any real benefit.
