I am interested in the History of Estes and who/how their rockets were designed. Even how or why they discontinued some and not others. Is there any where either on-line or otherwise to read about the history of Estes?
I can find all kinds of archives on kits but it's the history and the stories I am after

There is an entire category dedicated to model rocket history over on the other forum, YORF. (google YORF Rocket Forum)

If you enjoy reading about this type of thing, you should also check out the excellent book by Mark Canepa titled "Large and Dangerous Rocket Ships". It doesn't just follow the history of the LDRS events, it really explains how high powered rocketry came into existence. It talks about all the key players, the development of our motor technology, the inception of Tripoli and relationship with NAR, and also about the BATF lawsuit. I found the book really interesting. It's a big book, but a fast read if you enjoy history.

Vern Estes has a website:

http://vernestes.com/

It has not been updated in many years but it still has copies of articles written about the history of Estes Industries published in Sport Rocketry and LAUNCH magazines almost twenty years ago.

Ye Olde Rocketry Forum (YORF) has many threads on the history of the hobby:

https://forums.rocketshoppe.com/

You should be able to find a very comprehensive background on Estes Industries with all these sources.
