Louise Fletcher who brought life to Nurse Ratched in "The One Who Flew Over The Coocoo's Nest" and Kai Winn Adami in Star Trek Deep Space 9 passed away in her sleep at home. She was 88.

Winning Best Actress for her role as Nurse Ratched, she told the audience, “It looks as though you all hated me.”

She then addressed her deaf parents in Birmingham, Alabama, talking and using sign language: “I want to thank you for teaching me to have a dream. You are seeing my dream come true.”

Rest In Peace Louise... Thanks for all you did.

I didn't know until I saw her obituary that she played both roles. My wife commented that they were somewhat similar--both are pursuing/maintaining power all the while telling you it's for your own good.

The obit also said that she was frozen out of a lot of roles because she was relatively tall and the studios wouldn't cast a woman taller than the leading man in most films.

RIP
