A SALUTE TO THE CREATOR
Ira Keeler - Born 07. 23. 1940; Died 16.04.2021
Ira Keeler was one of those unsung heroes from a time when they were still building a lot by hand. Keeler worked as a model builder for Industrial Light & Magic. He worked on many films like THE RETURN OF THE JEDI KNIGHTS (1983), INDANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DEATH and THE LAST CROSS (1984 / 89) or COCOON (1985), BACK IN THE FUTURE (1985), DIE SLOWLY 2 (1990) or STAR TREK - THE FIRST CONTACT (1996).
Keeler appeared briefly in the ′′ Star Tours-Ride ′′ movie as a crew member ducking into an out-of-control Starspeeder 3000 A widespread misunderstanding was that this actor was actually George Lucas. Keeler also made a name for himself by building specialized miniature missiles for private use.

May your rocket take you to the stars dear Ira.

Computers have made things possible in movies that no one ever dreamed of seeing, like an 8-foot tall Incredible Hulk bounding miles through the air. But they have also, in a significant sense, killed the art of filmmaking. RIP Ira, Jeffries, Imahara, and all those who know how to make stuff!
