I posted this request about 6 or 8 months ago, but I'm hoping someone may have some more info by now. I am looking for the nose cone for the Estes Rigel 3 kit, it is the same as the Odyssey kit. If any one has one or any info on who does, PLEASE let me know. Thanx in advance.

Just finished: Silver Comet,29mm Mean Machine, Apogee Aspire, Nike X clone,3D cluster Fat Boy

Just started: Tres

You know though, Sandman, I never specifically asked for that part number. I think I will call her again. Thanx. What I may have to do is make my Odyssey and Rigel 3 w/ interchangeable nose cones. I wish Estes would start makin' their older most popular kits again. Am I the only one who feels that way?
Or maybe they should set up a special order system and we can order any kit we want, and when they get a certain number of orders they can run them and we'll all be happy again.
Sorry if I'm going off on a tangent, but I get so frustrated when I see people spending 100's of dollars for the older kits. It just takes the fun out of it. A Mars Lander just sold on ebay for $449, and it was opened!! Insane!!

I musta been lucky when I got the same kit for around $50.

or the Centuri U.S.S. America kit for $450!

I got the same kit for $30 couple of weeks ago.

eBay prices are amasing at times. Crazy world....

I agree, wish some of the old kits would return too.......

On the other hand, if people keep shelling out hundreds and hundreds of $$$ for the old kits, then my retirement payments are secured ;)

kelltym88,

Do you have an Odyssey nose cone but want another?

Maybe you can make a "copy".

I just got one of the Alumilite kits from my hobby shop.

https://www.alumilite.com/default.cfm

Look that site over. The stuff is kind of expensive but, I think you'll be able to reproduce it...maybe...

I haven't tried it yet. I'm still working on my "masters" but it doesn't look to difficult.

Sandman,
Yes I do have an Odyssey already built, as for the casting, not something I want to mess with. I guess I just either wait to see if one happens to show or I'll just interchange it.

Leo,
Where'd you get the USS America for $30.? Do they have anymore?

No, that's all I have. I drove 450 miles to someone I've never seen before. He had some kits I was interested in. Turns out he had more rockets than I had realized :)
After long hours of negotiations I got some Centuri kits for $30 or less. He also gave me a Centuri Little Joe that he had started building. I guess I got lucky that day :)

Try contacting Estes...ya never know!
800-525-7561 X 216
Ask Christine if she has a PNC-55CB or part number 71036

I tried the "part number" thing before with Christine.
She had no way of tracking down stuff by part numbers.

Its better to state which kits the cone had been used in along with the number of the kit itself.

The part number doesn't mean squat to them.

Its not like they're all computerized and everything!!!!
We're talking humans here!!
Very friendly and helpful humans!!
They bend over backwards to accomodate the smallest request, so try and make your request as easy to fulfill as possible and you just might be happily rewarded.

I sent my Odyssey nose cone out to Mike Schmidt at Moldin' Oldies last year to see if he could make a resin replica out of it. Turned out to be too big to fit into his machine and too complex to make a copy of. (All of the surface detail apparently makes for an uneven copy with some very thick spots and other very thin spots.) The good news is that I only paid $35 for my Odyssey, so they're not unobtainable.

JimZ could probably make a duplicate or even several using his top-secret method. He's hard to get ahold unless your name begins with S-A-N-D-M-A-N.

If I were you, I'd give him or Sandman a ping about it.

It'd be nice for that style cone to be made available as a light-weight reproduction.

He's not even answering my phone calls!

I think he screens his calls.

Talked to his wife a few times...but no JimZ!
