What a genius... and a prankster.

Thanks for this!

If you want to read a great book, his autobiography, "Surely You are Joking, Mr. Feynman" is a real treat. He writes very conversationally and down to earth.

This is a link to a PDF that is about 3/4 of the book, most of it overlaps with the actual book:

Highlights...in addition to the safe-cracking, the stories about doing mental arithmetic with Hans Bethe is one of my favorite bits.

I agree, it is a great book. I love how later in life he talks about doing his work while sitting in strip club.

I took a course from him in 1985. Dr. Feynman was able to reduce some pretty complicated physical concepts down to something more understandable. Not everything in physics can be in some way simplified, but he did what he could to provide analogies in other branches of the subject. This made various topics come to life in a manner other professors I had never could accomplish.

He was one of a kind.

That was a great. The safecracking stories were great.

I had meant to say earlier, the other hilarious story (poignant too) from the book was the story of how (right after the Manhattan Project) he failed his draft physical for (get this) mental reasons!

Hans Bethe's reaction was priceless...

Ok, I went back to re-read it and was laughing so hard, I had to share it with you all...
