Buildtak Black Adhesive Print Surface

Preparation: cleaned before printing with IPA

Filament: Hatchbox Black PLA, PETG.

Live Z: -0.800

Adhesion: 8.5-9 out of 10. A little tougher to remove than the Prusa Sheets. PETG was a little too tough to remove at times.

Link and price: 14.95

Buildtak is an awesome printing surface. It took a new live Z setting. I like it for both PLA and ABS but I am not too keen on it for PETG. BuildTak is not a cure-all for all types of adhesion problems. I found that it sometimes leaves pieces of PETG and ABS to the plate. I sanded them off and finished with 1500 grip sandpaper.

The Strengths of BuildTak
  • High adherence.
  • Durable.
  • Nice surface to print.
The Limitations of BuildTak
  • You will still need a heated bed.
  • Some prints will stick too much. I found this to be true with PETG.
