Folks sometimes insert videos and paste in one of Youtube's shortened URLs that look like youtu.be rather than youtube.com. The forum does not recognize this as a Youtube URL and therefore does not do the necessary magic to embed the video in the posting.

Here's an example. [argh, mpitfield just fixed this one so it is not an example at all. But I have seen this other times in the past as well]

Would be possible to make the software recognize youtu.be URLs?

youtube. not youtu.b. Just a simple copy of the provided url and paste. Just like in the old format.

Yeah. Some folks mistakenly paste in youtu.be links (I don't even know where they copy them from); I have fixed that for multiple folks in the past. There's no reason I can think of why the back end can't recognize these, or else just auto-translate them into youtube.com links.

Maybe they's using something that converts the url to the ".be" format. Some kind of phone or tablet?

Just find a you tube you like, Look in the browser address bar and copy that, and paste it.

https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v= NCWunnJXdm0 (take out spaces and you get =

Excellent, thanks. That explains where the youtu.be links are coming from.

I looked back and all the videos I posted before the software change don't show as videos. They're in the format
They don't even show as links, just plain text.

Give me the address to one or two of those threads. I'll take a look and see what I can do.

Thanks for that link. I've sent an example of what I found earlier and this latest example to developer.
