replacing delay with plugged closure?

I am wondering if one can replace the delay forward closure with a plugged closure? I would rather just use electronics with some motors... THANKS!

You can, but why buy more hardware? 29mm and up have plugged closure(29mm HPR cases not the 29/40-120 case)..All of my dual deploy flights I use the regular forward closure and just don't put BP in the ejection well, plus the delay grain makes for some good tracking smoke.

The advantage of a plugged closure is that if you do happen to get blowby, you won't end up with flames coming out of both ends of the motor.

If you do use a standard closure (lots of us do it), put a tiny bit of grease on the forward end of the delay grain to inhibit it.

Some people like to use the longest possible delay as a backup to their electronic ejection.

OR---leave the delay at it's full length or at least a couple of seconds late, with the ejection charge installed and use it as tracking smoke and as a backup to the electronics-----just in case! Yeah you might get a zipper but it beats a yard dart landing.

I do that when I am flying CTI motors. Mainly because their delays are either 14 or 17 seconds,and my apogee charge should SURELY go off by then!:bangpan:
