Here I was thinking that you were thinking of trying to do a CinerocDV....

I'm very much intrigued by your design, and will be following this build.

It's coming together nicely.
This is my take on the first camera rocket, Maul's 1912 gunpowder rocket.
Overall length: 49.5"
Weight w/o engines: 7.5 oz
Three launch lugs: one fin mounted, one on a standoff on the BT-5, one on the power stage.
Because this is a tractor style, with canted engines, I am concerned that the ignition wires will catch on the fins at launch. My proposed solution: run wires up the BT-5's and have a set of alligator clips near the engines and have the range clips attach to the ends at the bottom.
Is there something wrong with this idea?

What about twisting long fly leads to the igniters, then hooking the clips up to them? Fly leads are light weight pieces of wire (24 ga. or so, insulated/stranded wire) that extend the length of the igniters. The clips wouldn't have to get anywhere near the rocket. This is done a lot with boost/rocket gliders where there are wings and other bits sticking out.
