Yea. I saw it in the paper this morning. Bummer. Ray was one of the "old school" talents that those who enjoyed his music and his showmanship will surely miss. I know I will.

Ray was truly a unique talent. He brought together different genres of music, in a way that people (at the time) found unusual, to say the least, and created a sound that was uniquely his own.

I fear that news of his passing was indeed lost in all the tributes to President Reagan, which is a shame.

I met him (Ray Charles) years ago when I was doing a lighting job at Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan.

He told me, "My contract guarranteed me 4 flollow spotslight. Of course if there aren't 4 spotlights someone will have to tell me!" He told me this with that really big grin he has.
