Quest Catalog?

Really excited about the new Aerospace One (and the fighter escorts).

Ooh yeah, I'm on that too. Or will be when it becomes available.

Hurry up Shrox! ;)

Yah, finally got my catalog too.

Maybe everybody else can figure it out.

"Maybe they'll understand." is poor business practice and good businesses know that.

Also, maybe some folks are happy to see that a company has bothered to finally print a catalog. The first new catalog in what? 5 years?

I'm happy too. But actually Estes put one out in 2007. That was a good one! Exactly what a catalog should be. And Fliss is always up to speed, as we all know.

And with products aimed more so at the hobbyist rather than the Wal-Mart shopper.

Something wrong with people who shop at Wal-Mart?

If you are so disappointed with the catalog and its content you should show your displeasure by not buying from them,

slow down, I said I disliked the catalog not Quest rockets, okay? And THEY mailed it to me - probably because I ordered a lot of spare parts from them last year after a tip from them in the Vendor forum. And, yeah, also no mention of spare parts for sale in this 2010 catalog. Even so, the grade still holding at D+.

Quest obviously printed the catalog to mislead and confuse people and you are the one who uncovered their evil plot. You go boy!

Obviously you did not bother to read page 2 where it says:

"Read this catalog carefully...It's designed to give you all of the information you'll need to get started flying model rockets the right way...with Quest."

I just got the new Estes catalog today at Orlando's big LHS. I could now compare them side by side.
These are not complaints, just observations - I'm glad to hold catalogs again!

For me - The Quest catalog is visually more exciting than the Estes. The Quest presentation from the layout, fonts and backgrounds were easy on the eyes. To Shrox, the cover art was great! I didn't have any trouble figuring out the recommended engines.

The cover of the Estes features the Alien Invader. It looks as if the nose cone "bumps" were added right before it went to press. I read where they decided to make new plastic cones (with the bubbles) instead of the planned
balsa cones. I'm glad to see the "Classic Series" are here.

The Time/Thrust Curves on page 44 are tough to read, even with a magnifying glass. I know I could find them on the Estes site if needed.

A BIG step in the right direction from Quest and Estes. I'm looking forward to building new favorites from both companies.

I am thankful for the model rocket catalogs in print form.

I would like to see the following information added to the catalogs (if currently isn't included in the catalog) -

1) The estimated altitude for each recommended model rocket motor. This makes it easy to choose the appropriate engine based on the size of the field.

2) A brief product description that includes any information that is not found on the model rocket specifications. The information could include information like plastic nose cone, thru the wall fins, nylon parachute, ejection baffle, etc.

3) The recommended number of recovery wadding sheets for each model rocket. It would be great to bring the print catalog to the field and use it as a reference for flight prepping each model rocket. Having the catalog at the launch site is also great for sharing information about model rocketry.

Best regards,
Brian

I like the Estes catalog, just wish they would go back to displaying the actual build vs computer generated. For me I like to see what the real rocket looks like built and try to achieve the same quality.
I did receive my Quest catalog in the mail, did not ask for it, just showed up. There are some neat rockets in there but once again computer generated builds:( I don't know if I will ever get around to building any since I have so many Estes kits to build. I have been on the forums for a few years and really haven't seen too many Quest builds. Is there a reason for this? The rockets look pretty good to me and the only one I own is the Aerobee.

Like so Many others I'm just please as punch that Quest and Estes are putting out paper catalogs again.

Their is nothing as stirring to the imagination of young folks as leafing though a Mod-roc catalog and dreaming of which ones they'll scrimp and save to buy.

Overall I give Quest at very least a B for the excellent layout, graphics, most content and new products, motors and Kits. I'd have liked to see some new MMX straight build kits as well, and the MMX-I, MMX-II and MMX-II-NE motors listed with the other motors it's not really a detraction, rather what I see as a self limiting of sales.

Was not as impressed with the layout, offerings or graphics in the new estes catalog. I'm hoping how that they are owned by a Hobby company they'll return to a more competitive exciting level.

I have seen the Intruder kit at the hobby store, looks like an incomplete Interceptor. I really like the new small Betty that is staged with streamer recovery, may have to get that kit.:)
