Quest 24mm D22 and E26 motors not in Openrocket database?

I noticed that the Quest 24mm D22 and E26 motors not in Openrocket database. I have manually added motors before after getting the file from Thrustcurve.org, but I am not sure they are listed there either.

Both OpenRocket and Thrustvurve do have an Aerootech D22 motor, but it seems it is different than the Quest D22 I was looking for.

The OpenRocket and Thrustcurve D22 is 87mm long:

while the D22 that I was looking for is 70mm long per the manufacturer and Apogee:

If they are 70mm long, then they should be a drop in replacement for Estes 24mm motors. If 87mm long they would not be.

For the thrustcurve length error, report the motor and explain why. John will update the data so that it is correct.

It would make sense that this can be traced to an error on thrustcurve.com, which has carried over into OpenRocket.

The Q-jet motors have 2 lengths, the length of the 24mm case which is 70mm and the length that includes the ejection well which is the 87mm length. 99% of the time people want the case length so 70mm is the better one to have in the database.

Thanks for the explanation. If that square section where the ejection well is will just fit up thru the engine block, then these will be a drop in for the Estes 24mm motors.

It's hexagonal, but depending on what you use for a motor block, it should. It will easily fit through the AR-2050 ring that Estes most often uses for a motor block in 24mm mount kits.

It also fits fine inside the thick orange rings that come in Estes kits set up for E motors that you use when flying one on a C11 or D12. That means that these can also be used in the Estes 29/24mm plastic adapters to fly 29mm mount-equipped models like the Star Orbiter.

I use those orange Estes 24mm/29mm motor adapters all the time. My local flying site isn't particularly large so I fly my AeroTech Mustang/Arreaux or Estes PSII models on the new Quest E35/F41 motors using those orange adapters.

I think they are one of John Boren's best product designs.

The only times I've seen issues with the ejection well fitting into a motor block is on 18mm based motor mounts with metal hooks. You have to line up the flat of the well with the tab of the motor hook.

Those orange spacers come with every 24mm based Estes kit I've gotten in the last several years. I probably have close to 20 of them. I keep some in the range box, some with my 24mm motors and some with my 29mm to 24mm Estes adapters. Great things to have and like said above, work perfectly with the 24mm Q-jet motors.

Just to mention, you don't actually need to use those orange E12-to-D12 spacers with the D22 and E26 because they have thrust rings on the aft end.
