THEY BEEN BORN!!!!! a litter of 12, 6 male, 6 female. (golden retrievers, if you didnt already know) I get to go see after I finish moving (which I am about to start in an hour or two)! I already know what I want: a big, light-coated female. My dad and sister want small and dark, but in this I get first pick. If they want a small and dark they can get two. I wouldent complain.... But this is gonna be MY dog, so I think I ought to pick it out. my dad can help, but only if he agrees to go for big ones. I like big dogs. Ones you dont have to bend over to pat. There all gonna be so purty.... how on earth do I choose??I suppose I have 8 weeks to think about it,but still.... I would LOVE to type more, but myspacebar is half-broken and you have to hit it several times for any results. We hates it we does....

Congrats on getting the dog Neil! This reminded me of one of the guys at work. He had a Golden Retriever that belonged to his 5 year old son. The weekend before Christmas, it disappeared. Friday morning, he got a phone call, from an animal shelter in Wisconsin, letting him know they had his dog, which is 12 hours away from here. He headed up over the weekend to go get it. They gave no explanation of how it got there, so all we can guess, is, a truck driver picked it up, and it got loose from him.

Painting?????Ummm.... What are you talking about? You dont paint dogs....do you mean when you are painting a room, keep the dog out of it???

What Fun,after a while, they will start behaveing as they will when grown, i always, pick the one that likes to play by itself!seems like this dog bonds closer to the owner.something to think about. of cource i could be all wet,and just lucky.

We picked this one up a couple weeks ago, 12wks old and 30lbs... Male Akita... Not quite a hunting dog but already a member of the family.

i had a golden retriever for 19 years and i could never keep her away from water.she just loved swimming and she could smell the sea from about a mile away:D

Thats one cute dog you got there! I am comfortably sitting in our new house, my parents are out to dinner with my sister at some place I dont like, and I just got all my rocket stuff unpacked. This is a GREAT house. The cats are just getting settled in. I did not get much sleep last night, the cats were crying thier heads off because they did not know where they were. Poor things.

I guess I did not read about that.... doesnt sound like much fun...

Youll never believe this!!! The OTHER dog (or B*tch, if you speak dog breeder. Female dog. You know males, which are refferd to as "dogs" are not capable....) they have just had a litter of 8!!!!! now they have 20 puppies for me to chose from!!!! Now I get to go see them tomorrow morning, and theyr gonna be so CUTE!!!!! 8 younger ones with thier eyes still shut, and 12 older ones with thier adorable eyes open!!! Poooooor breeders... I certainly hope that guy can get some extra vacation time... I dont know what they were thinking when they bred both Goldens..... I like dogs, but I cant imagine living with 23 of them!!! (20 puppies, 2 mothers, and one other male golden they just keep as a family pet, as to my knowlege. I dont believe he is a "stud dog". Just a pet.). Bet they havent slept for days.... Pooooooooor people.... Theyre gonna have puppies for a LOOOOONG time.... They say they will actually have to advertise in the paper for the first time!

**** 23... when i rescued 3 baby kittens i had my hands full for weeks... full, very scratched up hands... claws hurt alot...

Off to se em in an hour!!! I am so exited.... How did you rescue 3 kittens? Ill say those claws hurt.... Especially when they are trying to keep from getting brought to the vet in the "evil blue boxes", as we call them...

3 kittens was the most at once... well... wait... *adding*

nope...

ok my mom has this habit of rescuing animals and making me help...

14 kittens (dont ask... just dont)

3 dogs

4 birds

2 squirrels

and a hamster all over the last 2 years or so...

Squirrls?? Thats interesting... I just got back from seeing the puppies! I have my puppy , Shannon, all picked out and put down a deposite. If anyone wants a video, I can send it to them. It is too big to post. (5.1 MB). I also have some pics, but they are huge files. Ill try to post one, but untill I learn to compress them, I cant post pictures from this camera (hint hint. Please tell me how to compress pictures).

As I suspected, it is too big. Ill just say that these pups are THE CUTEST things I have EVER seen in my life! The litter is from a first-time mother, and she was VERY calm and good about letting us hold her kids. If you look in the video I took (if you ask me to send it to you through Email), Shannon is the one that is moving about. I put one of the pictures of the entire litter on my desktop. So sweet! They could not stand up, they just crawled along the best they could. I think Shannon fell astleep in my lap for a little while! I would say they are about the size of a ferret right now, only much weaker and VERY cute. I wish my mom would let me breed her in a few years... thatd be fun. But I will have to wait untill I am grown up for that....

Here she is!!!! I think I managed to make the file smaller.

Yep. There we go. She is the one that is on top, and looking somewhat at the camera. that is a frame from the video I took.

Those are cute! Good luck with the pup, ya gonna teach it to get rockets?

When I was your age we had up to 30 dogs in the house at a time. All Boxers, my parents bred them. Usually about 5-7 adults and the rest were puppies. Great FUN! Theirs nothing like laying down on the floor and playing with 20 or so puppies at a time. One could allmost literally die laughing.

That would proabably be my prefferred way to die....

I am gonna take a shot at teaching it to do blind retrieves. This breeds bred for it, it should be able to. THere is a small river at one of our launch fields. I can train it to go over that to get my rockets that land there!

No doubt a Retriever will chase your rockets. Getting the dog not to chew on it is the trick, slobber, slobber.

Ill keep her on the leash for non-fiberglass rockets. Dog slobber shouldent hurt fiberglass. And you can teach them
"soft mouth", which is meant to keep them from hurting ducks while retrieving them, but will keep toothmarks out of the rockets she retrievs.

I heard of that "soft mouth" before. Just never thought it would actually apply to rocketry. Well they don't call 'em man's best friend for nuthin.

I've seriously thought about getting a dog, but with my 2 cats and the fact that we leave for at least a week every summer(sometimes 3!) and winter, it's just not really practical. If I do decide to get one, what is the price for a Golden Retriever?

Yeah...No kidding! I would definetly call them Mans Best Friend!

Oh, Price is $800. Very expensive, but really worth it. I just went to see my little pup again, and boy is she growin! I had to dig to find this thread, but these are the cutest pics! She is 4.5 weeks old now, and o-so-cute!!!!!!!!!!!!

They all like to eat my shoelaces, and eachother. At least they practice on eachother and not me! They did have to taste all of our fingers, though! Cuuuuuuuuuuute!

It was so cute when Cinnamon (misspelled, I know.) brought two of her pups (not shannon) out to play with a glove! They look so small outside.........

They do have some pretty sharp teeth... My shoelaces are proof of that!

They have this enclosed part of thier yard with a fence of firewood that the puppies can romp around in. The older dogs can jump over, but the puppies can only dream.....
