I have a 2005 VW Golf 1.9L turbo-diesel. First 4 cylinder car I've owned that the AC being on makes no difference with acceleration.

The panda substitutes for the nitrogen, which is what makes it not ammonium. And the ammonium ion does not have a lone pair; the nitrogen's fourth pair is where the extra H⁺ is bonded, giving the whole ion its charge. That's why it's not ammonia.
