This is absolutely true and we are compelled to use similar language in our house for the same reason. They're smart. They're even learning "do you want to go on a you know what?" is reason for excitement.
Toddlers are the same. "How about some frozen dairy desert, dear?"

Of course the pandemic has made this worse. Now, they get wound up whenever we put shoes on because for the last year, about the only time we left the house was to take them for a walk. Now that things are returning to normal, they're disappointed that we don't take them everywhere. The dogs of course. The last of our children moved out this past January.

Sometime you see people getting electric shocks from control panels when the ship is hit during warefare. Don't they have safety switches that far in the future?

That's a UK 13Amp Fuse. There would be one at the extension 4 block, one in the plug, maybe one in the plug socket it was connected to and a different, maybe resettable fuse at the main panel. Before that would be the 100Amp house feed fuse. By the time you found which fuse had blown, got the correct replacement type, the Klingons would have killed you and the Borg assimilated the remains. At least to put the fire out you just need a standard CO2 extinguisher type as it's all electrical. We've replaced all those fuse types with a single solution. :)
