That's just how we rolled in the 1970s.
That one is a little easier. Brand new rails, brand new ties. Just waiting for the signal engineers to come and move their stupid box...
This was not intended as a joke by PETA in their 4 Dec 2018 tweet:
I include the link to their tweet below because it is the replies that are hilarious:
EDIT: the funniest ones by far were the very early and clever ones now buried/diluted by garbage.
Yes, very funny indeed. (It's rare that I literally laugh out loud at any of these, but that one got me.)
As for the pole and locker in the tracks, those not only are not active but apparently never were. Notice that the rails have a side-to-side discontinuity right where the locker is. Also, the rails have lots of surface rust even though the ties look brand new. There are no spikes holding the rails to the ties, even though the plates are in place. And there's no gravel ballast. It looks like these are new materials being readied to be installed, probably replacing the ties up on the gravel that have seen better days.

That’s great that the mods let Gary off the hook. Nice way to avoid taking any responsibility for your words. Erase all evidence and pretend it never happened.
That picture could have been from Kentucky or Indonesia for all we know so rather than offend anyone, comments were pulled.
And the sad thing is, they're serious. It's called "1st World Problems" - finding something to gripe about in the richest, most pampered and privileged general population in the history of mankind.
I'm sure there are plenty of captions that could go with this.
The city of Los Angeles continues its "road diet" approach to improving traffic by removing lanes.

Or...That's one way to insure your business gets a dose of attention.
Or, teleportation gone wrong.
Is that a dent on the left of their nice window column?
