Using Scorchmark to highlight the staves.
Drilled out the bottom.
Next, install the captain, body tube w/motor mount, and nose.

Yeah, that's not the captain, he is the pirate who is trying to steal the Cap'n Crunch!

Ok, really love this...…..but I am aerodynamically confused. Does there need to be a "cannon" on the other side of the rocket, to balance out?

More nose weight, probably. That's a very tough shape to get stable.

More power (e.g., an E20 or E30) is always good, but I suspect you've got a basic CG/CP problem to solve first.
Agree on problem, not the solution.

Adding nose weight at the same time you add bigger motors is kind of a push me pull you situation, as your go up on the motor you are adding tail weight, and as you go up on the nose weight you need more motor to get it up to speed....l

Seems like the solution may be to go more the @jadebox Akavish approach

Or Odd’l rockets Sputnik

Yours is a pirate ship. Put the masts on the bottom and put the fins (sails?) at the bottom of the masts. This will easily move your CP back and simultaneously move the CG forward, in fact it is almost a tractor type with the motor well forward of the tail.

You will need some strong dowels to make the masts, as assuming forward eject it is going to come down hard on the masts.

What would happen if there were a few “cannons” (tubes) sticking out the front and back of the bulge? Drag I suppose but not so much because well, tubes are hollow.

Never saw that before, but then I never saw a big-waisted rocket before either. Just throwing it out there.

It's bulbusness is not letting any clean airflow to your stabilizing surfaces. Same problem kaboom krew had with their oddroc. Power and nose weight will help but a more thorough mindsim is needed. Extendo fins if motor is in the back...where it should not be!

Could be amusing if the nosecone ejection charge launches about a cup of Capn Crunch cereal in to the wind.
Flight physics might be iffy but it succeeds brilliantly at being a cheerful looking rocket.

The nose is filled with lead and epoxy. D12-3 and flies great. Ejection charge was weak. Bad batch of engines. Survived with only a fin extension snapped off. Already repaired.
