Remember they teased us, Data gave his life for Picard. Guess I'll never know.

Just watched the first episode. That they made the premier free a week after it aired implies that they didn’t get as positive response as they’d hoped.

I also think that the opening credits show part of the problem with the show. There were FOURTEEN executive producers or co-executive producers. There were six writers credited as well. It is impossible to have a singular vision with so many hands in the pie.

Ugh, now I hear they are trying to buy Red Dwarf rights and give that to Kurtzman to ruin. It is to be an all female reboot like Ghostbusters 2016. The past Red Dwarf pilot for American television was bad enough. Just think what 15 or so American Woke producers will do to Red Dwarf! After Dr. Who it will be sad to see another British classic flushed down the toilet. :(

Never understood the need to take a well done original and redo it American style. For example, Life on Mars was a British classic; I only got two episodes into the American version before I deleted it from my server. Same for Being Human.

Hich hikers Guide to the Galaxy is also being mentioned. Vogons in LA, a reality TV show where they face off with the Kardashians. Bring in some monsters like they did with Space 1999 second season. Import some BBC writers to impart a British flair! Streaming services need content and Mars needs Moms.

So I guess those who oppose the "wokeness" of this series haven't been watching the episodes and won't be able to discuss the show then right?
Too bad. ;)
Season 1: Nice resolution. AIs and organics learn to live with one another. Kumbaya.
Season 2: Altered timeline again. By Q. And what was his motive? He changed history for the worst to help Picard with his demons? Doesn't make sense. I like happy endings but can someone explain the storyline of this arc to me?

Trailer for season 3 dropped earlier this month. Principals from TNG coming back for some kind of mission and they need a ship. Sound familiar? I wonder if they're going to search for Spock?😁

Sorry, no.

The only thing I have is Picard was Q's favorite pet.

Both seasons were ok, both have issues.

I'll watch season 3.

I'm not a fan of season long story arcs. Maybe thats one reason I like Strange New Worlds.

I will soon meet again with my old fraternity brother at pig dinner. He worked with Braga and Berman on Voyager and was a producer on Enterprise. Maybe chatting with another old liberal white dude will bring me more understanding of modern Hollywood and their writing prowess.

I can't even get thrugh the freebie episodes sometimes available on YouTube. There are a ton of explanation videos there from both from an enlightened and istaphobe, incel, basement dwelling, man baby point of view. Too many cranky old dudes here, oozing with white privilege, nostalgia, and cold war, cis male patriarchal bias.

If I can soak up a tenth of your oddroc knowledge through osmosis I'll be the better for it.
Nothing wrong with divergent opinions.
As long as people on both sides have an open mind for discussion.

As for Picard...........
End of season one, he gets a new synthetic body without the problem in the parietal lobe.
But he is not immortal, he can expect a "normal" life span.
But he is already 90 some odd years old.
So what's the point?
:questions:

The rumor that I have heard is that there was a tremendous amount of production and budget issues, leading to two dozen producers, multiple writing teams, agendas, corporate mandates and scheduling/contract issues with Sir Patrick. A real nightmare leading to short cuts and inconsistency. Just go with the flow. Enjoy all the season three member berries. Hopefully they can pull in some old dude subscribers who actually pay for their subscription!

1st, I know TRF is a collection of generally really great Men and Women. (Cranky Old Man gender POV)
2nd, I understand that no one perfect. We all have a few character traits that could benefit from some improvement. (Realist POV)
3rd, this land of "Stars and Stripes", "Base Ball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet" is still the best darn country on the planet. (American POV)

But please, ffs stop trying to frag each other. MLK Jr. had the right idea, Strength Through UNITY. All this woke crap, let's rewrite history because some of it is not pretty crap, and all the other I can be mean as I wanna be crap, does nothing but stir up divisiveness and create rifts that will span generations. (This Black Man's POV)

Enough already.

STP is not perfect but I think it is a great series. STD is not perfect but overall it is solid. ST:SNW is just totally Awesome.

Oh and FYI, I watched Star Trek (ST:TOS) during it's original run on broadcast TV, on a Black & White television. (Now there is a bit of irony for ya)

On YouTube:

Post Geek Singularity for hours and hours of analysis to answer Star Trek questions posed. Mostly (from what I have seen) "critical" approach.

"Positive (Likes the show)" approach: Jessie Gender.

"Critical (Dislikes the show)" approach: Nerdrotic.

Stay away from mainstream shill media or popular YouTube reviewers.

Firstly... Star Trek has *always* been "woke". I mean, a cast made up of minorities? And women on the bridge? Heaven forbid! What I object to with Picard is that it feels like fan-fiction written by committee. It's like Next Gen's greatest hits rolled up into one season... Q, the borg, time travel, yadda yadda, is there anything they didn't use as a hook? The only thing they didn't use was Wesley.. oh wait, scratch that, they did.

This is *exactly* why the Disney Star Wars sequel trilogy is also so terrible.

So far, the only Disney Star Wars movie I liked was Rogue One, and that's because everybody died, and they had to, to retain continuity, but it was brilliant. And what astounds me is that there's clearly some talent there -- the Mandalorian TV series is proof of that, and yet, they are making such dull, un-inspired junk because that's what they think sells.

Well said, sir. Also agreed that Rogue One was pretty good. Star Wars Rebels was also decent, though it took a little time to really find its feet, and the final arc of the The Clone Wars: The Final Season was also pretty darn great.

For what it's worth, Andor was at least off to a good start with the first episode. I haven't had time to get past that yet.

Without debating the general validity of such an accusation, I must point out that it is especially strange to aim it at a Star Trek series. Being "Woke" has been a fundamental part of Star Trek since TOS.
TOS was not woke, woke did not exist then except as a tiny twisted dream in certain minds. TOS while it showed a bright inclusive future was not pushing an agenda. Woke is pushing a ludacris and deviant agenda to destroy society.

"Woke", in the sense you are using, is actually a made-up term to describe *anything* the far right doesn't like, the same way they now use the words communist and socialist synonymously, even though the two words in reality describe vastly different ideologies.
