I ordered some 2 mm carbon plate. They do various stock sizes including 47 cm x 23.5 cm. I have 4 fins that are 12 cm x 17 cm. So I thought lay them out back to back and there's plenty to spare.
I forgot about the fiin tabs. DOH!
The templates just fit.
Phew!
Nearly an expensive mistake.

do you have room for the blade?
 
Not really. The shapes are only paper templates based on the SIM dimensions. For the actual cut out, I'll remove a couple of mm. from the tip chord and root chord. I've already checked and it hardly affects the static stability.

No concerns about trying to ensure all the fins have the same orientation relative to the CF weave?

Good point. I can't simply waste the cost of this sheet. It's pre preg autoclaved double sided gloss, so it cost a fair amount. I could be in trouble if this was going transonic or plus mach1. You are, presumably questioning the possibility of fin flutter. Fortunately it's intended for a low speed, low altitude L2 attempt with a max of .49
I bought this as an alternative to 1/4 in birch. It has greater flexural modulus and much greater shear strength, regardless of orientation, than wood, while being lighter.
