In my early 20's, I ran up on one of these at a Dunkin Donuts in Marietta, GA. Parked in front of the store, I walked up from behind and it was obviously something neat. As I got up to the rear end, it was very intriguing. The little tail lights were very simple, looked 1950's. A petite fastback, no fender bulges, just smooth. The proportions were perfect. The window trim caught my attention, it was very thin and a little inconsistent from one window to the next. Not shiny chrome, but pale. And it seemed they used just enough of it to do the job. Something was super sexy about this little exotic thing. As I got to the door to look inside, the Z on the front fender caught my eye. My heart fluttered. I was standing next to a handmade Italian lightweight, a late 50's Zagato.

That explained everything. I looked back at the windows, and yep, they looked plastic. The trim was probably aluminum. Getting to the front fender, the headlights were covered, but there was no wide chrome ring like on the XKE's, only minimal hardware. In fact, an XKE almost seemed clumsy in comparison. The whole thing looked like you could pick it up and carry it around with you. It wasn't the best looking car ever, but it was perfect nonetheless.

I walked inside to get my donut and coffee, and looked around. Two middle aged guys by the window, no other good candidates. Must have been one of theirs. I wanted to ask, to talk to them so badly, and find out everything about it. I didn't have what it took to go over and ask them if it was theirs. I hoped they saw me studying it and would say something, but nope. So I just walked on out and slowly looked it over once more.

I've never seen another.

I suspect some photo shop. The elevators are not very displaced, the nozzles are not closed up much (Altitude, speed dependent), and the clouds are also at an angle. It could go vertical loaded lightly.
Also, despite what Top Gun portrayed the F-14 was not much of a fighter, more a Phoenix delivery system. If memory serves it had a woeful 6.5 g limit and the GE F110 engine was not a great engine.

I'm always amazed at the $$ some people have.. a garage full of 911's... obviously doesn't work at Wendy's..
It's easier to gamble when you have a lot to start with. But in any case, it's a combination of hard work and lucky streaks.

So awesome I doubt it's real. Still awesome. But I like to know what I'm looking at. But still awesome.

Real and edited photos can both be amazing in their own way. Either one can be the result of hard work, creativity and luck.
