Thought I would post this. Old rockets never die, they have to die young! My son and I built this 20 some-odd years ago when he was around 11 or 12, he’s 32 now. It is built around a 4” body tube with a 38mm motor tube, and is 38” long overall and weight 5 lbs loaded. Last flight was with an aerotech H242 and recovered with a 5ft military surplus chute. The ‘wings’ and central fin are thin ply over hardwood framing. The outer pontoons are thin central plywood with balsa on either side then shaped. Nose cone started as a propeller spinner for a giant scale rc plane bonded to a short piece of 4” tubing. 2Flies pretty well after adding more nose weight. First flight years ago with a big Rocketflite H 220 silver streak was pretty wild, big heavy black powder motor, not enough nose weight. Last flown about 6 months ago and apart from a bit barrel roll flew quite well. Note old school 1/2” launch lug on bottom. Some build pics, but 35mm not digital
