Ok, so I have this "E" size engine mount. I put it in a scratch build.

I picked up the aforementioned Estes part from one of my fav hobby shops, and put it in my first scratch built design. It's only a BT-60 size with an 18 inch long tube, but I made it to be a booster for independantly recovered payload modules and gliders. It's kind of ugly looking (ok, so it is very ugly looking) but it should fly. My question is this: I know that I can use D (with adaptor) and E size enginges in it, but what other types of engines will fit the mount?

Ok, the D and E is 24MM.

An Aerotech Reload, or single shot 24MM runs E through F. BUT the only concern you would have is the normal Estes motor retainer would interfere with the end of the Aerotech engine.

Now, my only question - to answer a question with a question is Length of the Aerotech motors, and if it will safely sit within the E sized Estes mount.

I'm betting some folks here have a simple solution for this, but since I've not personally launched any Aerotech engines that would fit Estes MMt's, I can't help you anymore.

Just my 2 cents..

Aerotech 24mm single use motors such as E30 will fit in a D sized mount.

Aerotech F21s will fit an E sized mount. but an F21 in an 18" BT-60 would be waaaay overpowered, would probably shred a glider. would probably boost some serious payload though.

Aerotech 24mm reloadables will fit in the D-adapted E size mount. the issue with reloadables is the clearance of the ejection charge well, vs. the engine hook. but since you're putting the adapter in front, and it's an E sized hook & mount, no clearance trouble.

hope that helps!

Besides C11s?

Two 20/50 centering rings on each end of 3.75" of BT20, with a 2.75" engine hook poked through it 2.5" from the bottm end, and you have an 18mm motor adapter. A C6 should lift the booster alone fine, and might lift more depending on weight.

Aerotech E30s will make it tear off the pad. They're the same size as Ds.
