A while back, I posted asking about a glue to repair paperback books. I found a great on, Elmer's Craft Bond. It's a white (type 1 PVA) that does not dry hard, stays flexible (unlike most of the type 2 PVA glues we use).
In a recent project where I built a baffle as part of a repair/rebuild, I needed to try out different positions of parts. This stuff, if used in very small quantities, can be used a lot like tack welding. It has the advantage of being flexible when dry, so if something doesn't quite fit, it can be warped into position before stronger glue is used. Additionally, like a tack weld, if that's not how the parts should go together, it is very easy to pull a glued joint apart (if only a scant amount is used!).
