Here is a short rundown of what I flew at the event.
First off was my Estes Fat Boy (C6-3 Engine) built in 2003 with 23 flights:
Next was my Estes Mongoose 2-Stage Dual Deploy (C6-0 to B6-P) built in 2012 having flown 19 times. It reached an altitude of 712 feet.
After that came my Estes Mammoth Dual Deploy with a cluster of 3xE12-P engines. It was built in 2017 and has flown 4 times up to this launch. It reached an altitude of 1182 feet.
The next day I flew my Estes Ascender 2-Stage Dual Deploy (CTI G88 to Estes F15-P). The rocket was built in 2014 and had 13 successful flights:
Having flown over 100 dual deploy rockets this flight was my first major failure. On the field it seemed that the altimeter battery was dead by the time launch had occurred. I am however still investigating to make sure nothing else was also a possible cause. I was quiet annoyed for the rocket not having performed as expected as the flight profile is always cool to watch. The sustainer is back in Germany to be repaired.
My personal highlight launch was a modified Estes Alpha flown using a Coldpower rocket motor. I built it in 2009 and it had 8 flights before the launch:
Wes, thanks for the great picture! Did anyone make a video of the flight?
After the perfect flight I flew my Estes Saros clone with 3D printed parts. It flew on an Estes B6-6. Built in 2017 and having 5 flights up to this launch.
The last launch was my 70's Estes X-15 on an Estes A10-3T which flew anything but straight.
