How often did he suffer through with a dull blade, saving the new sharp one for later?
 
Same here....lol left over from my Guillow's balsa WW1 airplane days [1960's]

Had to layout plans on balsa sheets, trace the parts, then cut them out with X-acto & assemble
 
Took me awhile to burn through. I used an ultrafine black stone to keep an edge on the 11 blades and a barber gave me a Swaty stone I use to touch up. As long as the edge doesn't chip, takes awhile to use up the 11 blades. Kurt
