I launched the Scorpion this morning. The Scorpion has a 38mm motor
mount and so I had a 29mm motor adapter in it with a G80 motor. Well
I fastened the 29mm motor retainer down however failed to have a retainer
for the adapter.
Looking at the attached photo you can see the adapter coming out the
rear of the rocket as the nosecone is ejected.
One also sees that the rocket was well past apogee when ejection
occurred. Fortunately the BRB900 GPS was on board and functioning.
Studying it's kml file in Google Earth I could follow the ground path
and so knew approximately where the adapter should have fallen.
Barb and I returned to the field and the BRB900 coordinates took me to
the landing site and I walked northwest from there almost directly to
the adapter! Pretty cool.
