Found a new Rust-oleum product that is basically silver paint in clear coat. See pic, standard black underneath but look at the effect. Performance for a Space Ark!
The best part is that it doesn't melt or fingerprint when dry, and you can clear coat it. Literally could be handled in an hour.
I put it on thick to get the silver color and it's supposed to make a color "chrome." Haven't had much luck with that but it's damn fine silver!
Cheers / Robert

do you know if it takes masking tape at all? Some of their traditional metallics don't do well if you have to mask another color over the metallic base, so you have to kind of plan ahead to do other non-metallic colors first, then mask on that and paint the metallic last. Otherwise, the metallic kind of flakes off with the masking tape when you pull it off.

I suppose if you can clear coat it, then you could mask over the clear coat just fine.

One coat. Will stick some yellow frog tape on today and see. If it masks then you can d Thunderbird paint silver with red racing stripes!
There's a family reason for painting a SBB purple and gray or silver. My youngest son was 4 and a Barney fan when I introduced the boys to rockets back in the 90s. He carried the purple Broadsword under his arm around the house all day. So purple and silver SBB lol. I have the original still built in 1994 but it's no longer flight worthy. It's permanent flagship though. This is my SBB bruiser with upgrade fins and motor mount. Fins papered and framed with basswood half rounds. G125+ easy. 26 year old original on the left.
