Hey everybody.

Well, it's been forever since I last checked in here. I had one heckuva year in 2003. I changed jobs, moved from Pennsylvania to New Jersey as a result of the job change, and now I'm finally getting my life back into some kind of reasonable semblance of normalcy.

Now I'm wondering where I can go in my new area to shop for rockets. I'm in Maplewood, NJ. Anybody know this area? Where would I find my closest (or best) hobby shop?

Alternatively, I'm in New York City every day for work, so let me know anywhere I should be looking there as well.

Thanks in advance,

The BEST rocket shop in NJ, bar none, is:

Zeppelin Hobbies
Riverdale, NJ 07457
(973) 831-7717

They are on Rt 23, near Kinnelon/Butler

Here is their website:

They have lots of rocketstuff...

Zeppelin Hobbies owner is a High Power rocketeer, so rockets take up two full rows at this shop. I have never seen so much rocketry in one shop!!

Kits include: ESTES, QUEST, Aerotech, Fliskits, Custom, Sunward, and Starlight.

There are many parts available from : BMS, ESTES, Custom, and other smaller manufacturers.

ESTES and Aerotech motors are well stocked.

To top it all off, there is a small selection of books and magazines on hand, including Stine's Handbook, a variety of titles from Peter Alway's Saturn press, and Sprocketry

Hi Monty,

I just joined here and I am in Randolph, but work in Livingston, right near you. Maplewood's a great town, used to live right next door in Millburn. I get most of my Rocket stuff from F&M Hobbies on Route 10 in Denville, but he is somewhat limited, being he's more of a train shop. Speaking of which, there is Millburn train & hobby right on Main St. in Millburn, which has a small rocket section with some quest kits and engines. I plan to take a trip up to Zepplin Hobbies soon to check it out as one of the other posters advised you!

If you're looking for a place to launch, I invite you to the GSSS launch held monthly in Bridgewater, NJ about 40 mins from you. If you're interested email me and I'll give you more info.

Glenn
