Here is the "nekkid' shot of my new Rocketpad Mega Pee Wee. I'm working on an EMRR review, yet thought you would like a preview.

What kind of glue did you use on the fins, they look real good.
I always use the elmers wood glue because my kids want to help and its safe.

I tacked 'em down with Titebond yellow, then used 5 minute Pro Poxy to reinforce them.

And here she is dressed up

MPW-Final-web.jpg

Sorry about the flash, and yeah, my fin finish kind of bites on this one.

BTW, this is supposedly based on a scratchbuild or kit from the 60's. If any of you senior rocketeers remember the original and can get me a scan of any related data I'd be grateful.

I can't seem to get the picture. I hit on the X, and nothing!
Is there a picture of this kit all painted up?
Look interesting!

Here's a pic...sorry don't wanna violate any "copyrights"

I just copied it and reposted it.

It really isn't exactly like the original...just kinda sorta..

Weird thing is that Rocketpad did not excctly clone the Pee-Wee. The sustainer fins in the original were what held the booster on.

I wonder why he chose to do this....

Now my big question is should I snap the fins off and move them down....

Hi Al; A friend just called to say there was a post on this kit I produce! In answer to your question; I tried it that way on the first test model & it did not work all that great! I chose to do it the way the kit shows & this way it worked out fine.
Your kit looks cool with the colors you picked.

Happy holidays to all from Rocketpad Kits!

Hokay....

I' gonna leave it as is.

I like the fins.

In case anyone asks, the ridge you see just below the NC os a thinnish layer of epoxy. I do this as a an anti-zipper measure.

Hobbyman ~ did you do any test flights with a parachute?

Hi Al, No, I have not tried it with a parachute. I think the next day I can fly here in NY(30deg out side now!) I will hook up one. I think a 12inch one would be a good size. I used a streamer because this can go real high on C's-wanted every one to get it back!
Happy Holiday & Maybe it will warm up over the weekend to test a parachute with the Mega Pee Wee!

I might give her an xmas rflight. One critique - kit needs one more of the small decals. one on each fin would have been cool.

I FINALLY got my Pee Wee finished and painted. Here it is.

I agree with you on the decals, it would be good to have 1 more small one. Have you flown yours yet?

Hope to fly on 7/4.

Yup

It was spectatular. The booster motor pushed up thrugh the airframe and incinrated the MMT. Was the most freakishly squirrley flight ever. It's in the repair bin.

Seems like you must not have assembled the kit to the instructions. This is the first I have heard of a problem with this kit! The only way this could have happened from what you said happened, you must have not assembled the motor mounts correctly! I went out this afternoon(great to be next to a range!) & had a test flight with my test model. It was a fine flight. Did you have a motor cato?

No Cato

Never had a chance to do an autopsy as the internal evidence in the booster was kind of incinerated. I still have the directions and plan to rebuild it and try again,

It's possible I messed up, however there is no way I can tell any more,

I'll pull it out of the bin this evening and see if I can post some details.

Flew my Mega Pee Wee in 2-stage mode today on a Quest B6-0 to A6-4... perfect flight!

Watch for the review.

I JUST GOT THIS KIT A FEW WEEKS BACK & IT LAUNCHED GREAT TODAY. I AM HAPPY WITH IT.

I LAUNCHED IT ON THE SECOND FLIGHT WITH A C6-0 & A C6-7, WENT UP REAL HIGH! I THINK I WOULD NEVER HAVE RECOVERED IT WITH A PARACHUTE THOUGH.

I'LL KEEP IT WITH A STREAMER.

WOULD BE NICE WITH A FEW MORE OF THE SMALL DECALS FOR THE FINS.

I WILL EMAIL THEM ABOUT THIS.

Cool, ok, I got the message! I will be adding some more decals in all future MEGA PEE WEE kits! I added some more on the fins of the test model and it looks better!

I should have done this sooner.

Thanks every one!
