I'm here. Posting on an animal right's board too. Every board is slow. Was working on my upscale quark. Have the fillets how I want them. Just the matter of sanding stuff so I can have the right finish. Then paint. Almost finish. Cannot wait.
what is everyone else up to?

wow. I hope you win the contest. Sounds like fun. That would be awesome to get some pictures or video of it in the air. Good luck!

Must be...Mr Irvine has returned from Hiatus and the fur is flying. Sad thing is there are some peole there I would love to have over here. However, they value their right to be uncivil more than the capability to be on topic.

Hey, it's all about choices

When I'm at work, I can't sign on to the forum but I can take a look now and again so I am a guest at those times.

I'll bet there are others in the same situation.

Another social effect I've poked my science into over the years, the blind insistance on what they mistakenly assume is freedom of speech, and against what they mistakenly call censorship.

More often what they actually value is having people see them saying they value the higher principles. But they tend to do that in places where the most others can see them saying such things. Rarely do they actually conduct their lives like that, and rarely do they recognize the contradiction since the "saying" is usually being done in a virtual reality which they tend to believe has nothing to do with real life.

The uncivil think this way, but there are others who are perfectly civil who do also. I can't abide that sort of duplicity. When I went to NARAM and didn't find anything going on at the hotel, I could have gone to the r.m.r dinner. I chose not to, because unlike the duplicitous I believe that what you say is what you say, no matter where; there is no "just on the net". I'd have only gone to tell them so. And that would have been a waste of time. My son and I chose the much better course, a New Mexico style restaurant and a drive back to D.C.

IIRC, Jerry posted something perfectly on topic and reasonable here and was promptly followed up by others who must have started doing what his detractors on r.m.r. do, because the mods put a stop to it pronto. And I appreciated that.

It's a shame people put so much stock into protecting their right to be a jerk on the net when there's so many more important or rewarding things to do. Rockets, frinstance.

Neil,

There were some errors in the files that were origianlly posted for the Virtual Rocketry Football Lofting Contest at the EMRR site. New files were posted there today so I suggest reloading them and try using them again. For those who have RockSim versions 5 or 6 and for those who don't have RockSim and want to use the free demo software, these new files are in the version 5 format.

er...interesting is right...It only started about a 20x20ft grass fire at Fire on the Farm. Nothing like that one that that one 14 year old started the month before. I mean it was only about 3 acres, not that bad that they don't let me...er...him fly flying saucers with any sort of delay anymore...

Alright Jim - don't make the "Administrators" take away your posting privileges!

LOL - Ok, I'm tired too and conveniently found this funny!

DynaSoar, if only the rest of the world understood your logic! So far so good. TRF gets out of line every now and then only because of one or two, but otherwise has always been a great place to chat. I've seen a UBB or two go bad because the moderation disintigrated.

Lots more observation than logic really. I started writing about "computer mediated communications" almost 20 years ago. You'd be amazed how much hasn't changed. The last 10 years I've added cognitive psychology to it. It makes more sense now as long as I can explain stuff without someone having to understand the jargon. If I use that stuff, it's less clear but the people who understand that stuff swallow it better. That's kind of sad.

TRF runs great. If people would just keep remembering that this is private property and they're here by permission of the owners (and their agents, to non-owner mods) who have the right to say what can and cannot go on (as part of the right of ownership) there'd be no problems at all when the mods took action. A moderator, owner or not, is an editor. They have the right to do what they decide is best for take care of this private property, and they have the responsibility to do what they say they will so peoples' invited stay is what they were offered.

Most people don't care to think about this sort of thing, they just want it to stay a nice place, and act accordingly, so it's rarely a problem. I'm glad in a way that r.m.r is the way it is. It gives people who refuse to control their own behavior in a civilized manner a place to go other than here.
