Check out the now shipping, and soon-to-be-certified 38mm motors from Loki Research (www.lokiresearch.com). I wanna get my hands on one of those J1001 Blues! 0.7 second burn and only $39.99. This stuff looks quite promising!

Will they have CSFM classification?

If only I could run the reloads across the border!:D :(

That I don't know. Email Jeff Taylor, the owner. He'd know. He's on here occasionally too.

Heh-heh-heh. Might have an H144 for my tethys. For the ultimate in cost, i am going to go G hybrid when they come out, but $40 for a J sounds pretty good... :D

Anybody notice the long burn motors :)... Those probabily are restricted access though....

Also, Loki... you require a LEUP to buy your loads? looks like your fuel grains are less then 62.5 grams  .

Oh, and researching the documentations for shipping via usps, it looks like the limit for propllant grain weight has been increased to 62.5 grams... I thought it was something like 30...

Shread -- I don't know about the Loki stuff, but Ellis motors will soon have CSFM approval. They have some awesome single use motors in a variety of sizes, and being "fully assembled" they are ATF exempt.

I found this:

https://www.geocities.com/ellismountain/su.html

And it looks interesting, but according to the big list:

https://nar.org/SandT/pdf/CombinedList.pdf

Only the G20, G35 and G37 are Model Rocket motors. Nothing on the big list about the E10 and F23. Soon maybe??

The more, the merrier. :)

A fly on the wall says that Loki will not require a LEUP for the 38mm line on site, if he kinda knows who you are. Also, Performance Hobbies will be a dealer and will be under their own policies on that.

Yes. Thanks to some good info from Gary Rosenfield I know what to do, but it will take another few months. We need a California dealer to work with and Loki will have to pony up some hefty fees to the PRK. Then we wait for the bureaucratic wheels to turn......

You won't need to. We'll be shiping to dealers in Canada. We are working on the details now.

You are confused? So are we! We don't want to require permits for exempt PADs, but as a very small business we have to be very careful. We are requiring that dealers of Loki Research motors have ATF permits (as do the other manufacturers as far as I know). ATF permits will not be required for on site sales from Loki Research intended for immeadiate use. But dealers will have their own policies.

The Loki H144 and I305 reloads are designed with 30g grain weights so that they can be shipped by US postal surface mail (no hazmat fees). We will do this whenever practical. The long burn H and I motors, as well as the J and larger motors will require hazmat shipping.

I don't want to make any promises that we can't keep. We're working on it, that's about all I want to say right now.

Fred

Ellis uses Tripoli for certification and the E10 and F23 were certified by TMT on 9 June 2004, and by reciprocity are certified model rocket motors for sport flying at NAR sanctioned events. https://www.tripoli.org/tmt/EFGmotors.shtml

The NAR combined list https://nar.org/SandT/pdf/CombinedList.pdf is always a few months behind. The list is published in the January and July issues of Sport Rocketry and prepared about 2 months prior to publication. A TMT certification in June would not appear on the July List, and in any event, contest certification would be delayed by several months to permit sufficient motors to become available to the contest flyiers.

For new motors that may be certified but not yet listed on the NAR combined list you need to check the following sites:

NAR S&T anouncements https://nar.org/SandT/STchrono.html

Tripoli TMT https://www.tripoli.org/tmt/TMT_Certified_Motor_Index.shtml

and CAR https://www.stephensonline.ca/carweb/motor_index.html

Jeff, you are my hero!

I've heard that the fees are pretty steep, though. Something in the thousands per motor designation. Yeesh. Hope it goes well.

Might I recommend What's Up Hobbies. No doubt the biggest, and best stocked dealer in Ca.:)

Good Luck with all your efforts - there are lots of folks wishing you success.
I for one appreciate you comment -

"I don't want to make any promises that we can't keep. "

I know you want to get out info as soon as possible to keep interest up, but making false promises can really hurt. Do it right and it certianly looks like you are well on your way toward that.

Good Luck Again!!!!
