New model coming up

Hello space fans,

This is one of the first models to be released this month.

It's a fantasy rocket, in the style of the old Sci-Fi comic books.

I found out that if I put some weight in the nose ( the
rockets', not mine ) and trow it, it actually flies pretty far
and quite stable.

Could be an idea for upscaling.....???

Don't take this model too serious. It's a fairly simple model, made
for the kids. My other models, on the other hand, will be
very accurate and quite difficult !!

Hello again,

This scale 1:48 model of the Pegasus XL will also be released this
month.

It's about 36 cm long ( about 14 inches ). Small model,
but many parts, with extra parts, meant for extra detailing.

The standard version alone has almost 70 parts..... !

Erik, that Pegasus model looks awesome. The wings/fins are even angled... er... I'm not sure how to describe it. Not flat. They bulge in the middle and come to a knife edge at the front. Pretty cool for a cardstock model!

But seriously, no, this rocket won't glide, because it is
a rocket, not a glider.
These short wings are obviously made to work only at high
speed, just like the wings of a F104 Starfighter.
This airplane has a pretty high stall speed and must maintain
a much higher ( minimum ) speed to stay under control.

The Pegasus was designed to launch very small satellites
at low cost. It's launched at high altitude. It's carried by
the Orbital Carrier Aircraft, a 3 engine aircraft, something like
a Boeing 727.
At 39,000 feet the rocket is released and after 5 seconds the
first stage ignites.
Etcetera etcetera.

So unless you make the wings a lot bigger or find a way to
keep a high speed from start to landing, there is no way
this thing will ever glide properly.
Also, the wings of the original do not create much lift. It flies
out of the atmosphere quite diagonally right into space.
And who needs wings there..........??? !!! ;-)

Look at my model once it's downloadable; you'll see..

So...you'll have to use a parachute instead of a satellite as
a payload.


Oh....yes........ First you have to score the folding lines
and THEN cut it out. Then apply glue and assemble.

Now THAT'S the correct order of assembly ! ;-)
