The Kia Optima is a really good car.
But if greasy roads are an issue at times where you live, I would suggest a Subaru Forester. You won't regret it.

I saw that he already bought a PT Cruiser (looks like a decent car!) but I have to second your opinion on Subarus. I live in a very snowy area and my Forester has always served me well. My wife has a Volvo Cross-Country wagon and my Subaru easily outperforms it in deep snow.
