Wright Stuff Rocketeers (NAR 703) will once again be at the National Museum of the US Air Force for the annual build and fly. The event this year takes place on Saturday, July 21st, 2018. The museum has 500 rockets and motors that are free to the public. Club members and other volunteers will be on hand to help with the builds. Club members will also help people launch the rockets out in front of the museum. 500 foot maximum altitude so the build and flies will be going up on A motors. Club members can also launch, but must also stay below 500 feet.

In case of rain (which seems very likely this year), the build session will still take place. People can bring their rockets to a club launch to fly them.

We had a few problems with the launch, but managed to get 295 flights in before the rain shut us down in the afternoon. 288 flights were the Astra III rockets provided by the museum. 7 flights were from club members. 241 flights for first time flyers out of the 288.

As mentioned, we had rain which seriously impacted our launch. We stopped several times for light rain and then around 3:30 we got hammered and had to shut down and pack up. We also had a fire alarm go off in the museum which shut down the build sessions for over an hour. The build window was from 10 to 3 and we lost a good hour out of that. And with everyone having to pass through security to get back into the museum a lot of people just left and didn't come back. Our launch site was out in front of the museum and we just saw a steady stream of cars leaving after the fire alarm went off and the museum was evacuated.

Still, a pretty good day.
