NAR Members in Rhode Island?

I'm Joe from Westerly, RI NAR #11344. I've been launching since 1967, and was the Space History editor for Sport Rocketry during the Steve Weaver editorship. I'm looking to connect with NAR members in Rhode island first to have a flying partner, and eventually to resurrect Rhode Island Aviation and Space Education (RIASEC) #600, a NAR section that is apparently inactive.

The list is only available for existing NAR members and should only be used to contact members in your area about interest in joining your club. The is not to bu used for any commercial purpose.

Good luck Joe. I am in Connecticut and from what I understand... after the Station fire, it is virtually impossible to fly anything other than an Estes Mosquito (the original no upscale) in RI.

I see you're in Westerly. It's a bit of a hike - 45 minutes - but at CATO we fly out at Salem, and we can fly up to G impulse with a 4000' waiver, which is far better than anything you're gonna get in RI.

i have just relocated to pascoag in Jan. and plan to continue to fly with CMASS they are a very good group!!! the farthest field is a 90 minute drive, not to bad.

yes bob I am aware of that and was thinking if we carpooled it would save us both a bit on the trip!!! but I have to be home for the launches to do that we shall see!!! right now I am in Ohio not far from a launch and sitting till monday so i was thinking like nerrf could I park this truck near enough to walk the rest of the way and watch some flights. satellite view says maybe!!

Thaw out your rocket gear because we are a go for launch of our first inaugural Model Rocket Launch on this Saturday (March 22, 2014 @ 10 am) of the newly formed Rhode Island Model Rocket Association (RIMRA / NAR 755)!!!!!!

We have also launch our website, which is still under development. We will post additional information on this launch, future launches and other activities this week. The website will be a interactive and information will be updated bi-weekly. I am sure we have some glitches and errors that have eluded use so feel free to let us know.

This endeavor was the a result of the hard work of Jeff Oppold, John O’Connor and Ray DiPaola, along with the support of URI, Peckham Farm, CATO and many others, major props to them!!

CATO Club https://www.catorockets.org is supporting our launch providing equipment and logistical support, big round of applause. We also have MMMSC https://mmmsclub.org jetting down from Maine to join the festivities. To them this is going to be like going to Florida, they will be the ones with shorts on. A question re cost. There is a note under launch info:

12. How much?

$20 for first adult, $5 for each additional family member – No launch fees for the first day.

Does this refer to membership? This would be our first club launch ever - I think we'll probably just watch.
