So I finally got around to making my first high power rocket over the past few weeks.

Should have made a build thread but #Lazy

Did the 2.6" x 49" Callisto build from Make: High Power Rocketry with a 29mm motor mount. Looking forward to flying it at the next DARS launch!

Let's consider this a fast paced build thread [emoji16]

Lots to do...

A 100 tooth saw blade cuts quite nicely it turns out. Glued the 3 pieces of plywood together to get equal cuts

I learned I suck at making fillets

But, priming isn't so bad

47 coats of black later I have enough for a few stripes!

Of course, I need some decals... Tweaked the transformers bumblebee logo to be a bit more plain, then found a bumblebee specific font and some sticker paper to print on.

Ready for decals

Not perfect, but... Close enough

Need to put some clear coat on it now to keep the paint looking ok.

Did you buy your motor yet? That's the challenging aspect of a first HP build. Buyrocketmotors.com is a great resource for motors. Good luck on your first flight. I assume you are going for your L1 certification?

Yep I went with buyrocketmotors. I live in Dallas so I love the lack of shipping or hazmat!

Gonna fly it first on an 29mm h128 but I have a 180 and 360 case with spacers so lots of stuff to fly.
